Is Ashworth College accredited?

I want to enroll in Ashworth College, but I don’t want to waste my time and money if it’s not worth it. I want to study Nutrition, Diet & Health Science. I googled Ashworth College Accreditation, but I still have mixed feelings. My boyfriend found this statement online that someone wrote:

"It is a diploma mill. Their HS is accredited by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges. Their college programs are NOT! Their college programs are DETC accredited, whhich is worth exactly nothing in academia. If they were regionally accredited, they would be shouting it from the rooftops, rather than posting a very obscure reference to SASC."

Also, on Ashworth College website it says the tuition is 4 with monthly payments. Is is 4 for semester, course, or year?

Lastly, if anyone can recommended other online colleges for Nutrition I would greatly appreciate it!

Thank You in advance for your help!

Please steer clear of ashworth which is one of those online, for-profit schools (though may be ‘accredited’ and may have ‘brick and mortar’ buildings) as well as penn foster, everest, devry, university of phoenix, strayer, argosy, sanford brown, ITT tech, kaplan, ashford, remington, high tech, walden, colorado tech and other as they are merely out to ‘make a profit’ (and course credits may NOT transfer to other schools). This consumer site has many posts by former students about those online, for-profit schools, and please heed the students’ warnings: http://www.ripoffreport.com and can search.

For the dietetics field, please Only consider programs accredited by the American Dietetic Association: http://www.eatright.org/cade

    US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ

For general career information: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search ‘dietetic technicians’ (usually a two-year/associate degree), ‘dietitians’ (registered dietitians may need a master’s degree) or such.

I cannot recommend an on-line college because most on-line colleges are diploma mills just trying to take peoples hard earned money and provide them with a sub-standard education. Here is what you should do contact your local community college. THey will have many on-line classes that can be transferred to a 4 year university and they will be fully accredited by the state. Then you can transfer to a 4 year state university that offers many of their classes on-line. THis is the only way to take on-line courses that will be recognized as legitimate. I hope this helps good luck with school!
